Saints Alive! Update
In February 2010 Saints Alive! launched a new endeavor—we adopted a Congolese Orphan! Her name is Demomo Christine. This is an exciting adventure for both Demomo Christine and for us. Orphaned children in the Congo seldom have the opportunity to attend school, and often do not understand that they are loved by their Heavenly Father. They work hard to survive each day and miss out on being a child. Their physical and spiritual needs are great. Our adoption of Demomo Christine pays for her school tuition and supplies and provides her with two uniforms, clothes, and shoes. She will receive health care in addition to her spiritual care and have the opportunity to participate in social activities. Our involvement also contributes to community nutrition projects. It is hard for us to imagine that the $25 we contribute each month can have such a dynamic impact on our child. Demomo Christine at age 12 has already lost both her father and mother. She has one brother, Jeremie, and the GlobalFingerprints program allows them to live with a Congolese family in the village of Bombaliswe instead of in an orphanage.
We, the Saints Alive! ladies, have been particularly blessed in that Rachel Martin (EFCA Missionary for White Cross) recently returned from Congo where she was able to visit personally with Demomo Christine. She was able to take her a dress made by one of our VBC ladies and witness her great smile when she received it. She brought back a letter penned April 20, 2010 by Demomo Christine in her language.
The letter translates as follows:
April 20, 2010
A big hello! For what you are doing for me, what can I say? Only thank you very much. My heart is full of joy.
I want only to say that may God, the One who I worship, bless you very much.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all for all you are doing for us.
Thank you,
Demomo Christine
What a privilege to know we are making a difference in the life of one so young. What a blessing to learn of her love for God and that she has accepted Christ’s greatest gift. Now, dear ladies, we have the responsibility to PRAY diligently for this child. She has physical needs, emotional needs, environmental needs, and spiritual needs, all of which we can cover with prayer. Remember her daily.
